Just bought Roubaix, but is it the correct size?

I just bought it yesterday and I just want to clarify the fit, your advise is appreciated.
I bought a 56cm as I am 5' 10" and in the Specialized book it says 5'9" - 6' is 56cm, so in theory it should be ok.
However my inside leg is only 31" so my saddle is now almost level with the handle bars, is this ok?
My last bike an S - WORKS Tarmac my saddle was about 3" higher than the bars, I know the head tube is higher on the Roubiax ( and thats why I changed the bike) however just wondered if saddle and hadne bars at same height is ok?
Need to make sure as I could swap it, but must do this before I ride it!!!!
Thanks

it's difficult this - cos a 54 frame might be to short on reach!
I'm about 5'8" - but also with a 31" inside leg - I have a 54 roubaix.
i mean - it's OK to have the handlebar / saddle level - but not common. it's not going to fit like your tarmac cos thats a much more racier position (lower head tube probably). is the stem as low as it can go? are there spacers above the 20mm cone-shaped spacer? (I believe the cone spacer can be changed for a flat-cap type too if you needed to lower them any more)
If you are concerned id' probably get in touch with the shop and see if you can try a 54 - you might need a big (like 130mm+) stem to get the reach though.0 -
In an ideal world, your bike shop should have made sure you had the right fit. a 56" frame strikes me as a bit big. It would be most unusual for a road bike to be set up with saddle and bars on the same level. I think it's quite irresponsible for a bike manufacturer to make such sweeping statements regarding frame size and fit.
If you can, I would go back to the shop and get them to look at your position on the bike.0 -
I am 5ft 10 and ride a 54cm - i have quite short legs though - 30/31 inch I think0

I am 5'10 with an inside leg of 31. My Roubaix is a 56. Suits me fine. Seat and saddle are at the same height. I did move the seat back a bit from the original position.0

I'm 5' 11" with similar inside leg and have a 56cm Roubaix. I've fitted a shorter stem (110) and I'm now happy with the fit. You could also try playing about with the stem angle using the reversible spacer.0

All you 5'10" - 5'11" people with 30-31" inside leg measurements! Are you measuring inside leg from crotch to floor in bare feet, or is this your trouser measurement?
I'm only 5'6" but have a 31" inside leg when measuring following the advice on the Ribble website.0 -
Threads like this make me glad to be 6'5". I just take the largest frame available - no question about whether it's the right one!0

I am 5ft 10" with a 32 inch inside leg. I have the 54cm Roubaix and it suits me fine. I have the stock 10cm stem on it at the moment too but I sometimes switch over to a 120mm Control Tech stem to get a bit more aero.2010 Lynskey R230

about 5'10", 31inch inside leg (for trousers)
I've got a 54 and I prefer that size to the 56.5 top tube on my previous bike. i've built mine with an 11cm tem.0 -
I seem to remember you from the old C+ forum. If I remember correctly, you did not get on well with your previous bike and wheels and complained about the fit or something then. You do not seem to be terribly lucky getting kit you like.0

No never had a problem with fit, it was the front wheel (Easton) that was vibrating when braking, but they swapped it and all was ok. Gosh you have a good memory that was about 2 years ago?
Anyway had a full fitting session today and its a 54cm that fits, well 54cm for legs and 56cm for reach. So its a 54cm Roubiax Pro with a loner 120mm stem
Fits great, now lets hit the road.

6'4" myself and I tend to do the same, but don't you find the saddle high and the bars low Nuggs?I say what I like and I like what I say!0 -

With chaps like us, unless we go custom, it's always going to be a case of getting the largest frame and fitting the other components around it.0 -

cool - glad you got that sorted - sounds like a decent LBS too - care to name them?
So what do you think of it? - got any pics to post?

5'11" with a 32" inside leg and my 56cm Roubaix seems fine, as someone else said you can adjust the stem quite a bit to if you want the bars lower. My bars are only a bit lower than the saddle but that's the position I wanted having returned to cycling from 12 years of being a couch potato...0

5'10.5", 32" inside leg (trouser wise) so slightly long-legged according to my LBS's fitting system stats.
56cm frame fits well with 120mm equivalent stem length.
Big feet (size 46) so greater chance of toe overlap with the 54cm frame. Not a common fitting issue, but perhaps something to consider!
For bar / saddle relationship, see picture(s) in this post:
(but note that the rear end of the bike is raised by the stand in the main pic)
