It doesn't look major to me"Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0 -
being a steel jump frame shouldn't it be ok????0

You can't see anything in those pics. What are you taking them with, a cam phone? Try and borrow a decent camera.
Is it a steel frame? If so then dent can be repaired i think, if it is ally then your fooked as ally can't be repaired once damaged! That is quite a high stress area and if the stay has been structurally weakened it could crack, and you don't want that happening when landing a big jump!

it is steel, and what do you mean by stay?0

what do you mean ratty2k? is there definately no chance of a crack forming?0

Was that aimed at me? I didn't look properly at that picture. As ratty said, it's tiny, it'll be fine.0 -

Yer, ally can be repaired as well, but the frame has what looks like a chip in the paint... Steel frames and ally ones can take a lot more abuse than that little chip.0 -
it is definately a dent btw just not incredibly deep.0

if it is so small that it is difficult to see from the pics, i would imagine it would be ok.
the best way in that case is to remove the cranks and bottom bracket, then in a dark room, shine a torch into the opened bb shell and see if you can see light coming through the dent. it would also be the opportunity to check with your finger to see if it feels cracked or if it still feels smooth.
if there is no crack, you wont see anything, if you are still worried though, it wouldnt be difficult for a welder to knock a quick couple of spots up in there to repair it, you will need to repaint the area afterwards though.0 -
i did what you sheepsteeth suggested no light shone through however the inside feels a bit rough heres a pic http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/2174114/ what does this suggest0
