Hi

Im looking to buy a Garmin 305 and wanted to know more about the virtual training partner.

Does anyone know if you can have speed, duration, av speed, h/r and the "compete against previous workout" all on the same screen? Think it would be handy in a TT?!

Many thanks

Can't you use multi screens and have them 'rotate' every few seconds?

I'm pretty certain you can have all those things on a screen - the screens are all configurable, including the map screen. The map would be a bit small with 4 other stats on the screen, but would probably work. I think you can just have the time gap to your virtual partner as a numerical field too.

You can have four custom fields on the workout and course screens, so yes, you can have speed, duration, av speed, h/r. I prefer to use a cheap Cateye for the simple stuff and have the Garmin do the stuff it does best- HR, cadence, elevation and grade.

IIRC it gives you the distance your virtual partner is (hopefully) behind you rather than the time- may be configurable though.
