how tight to do up a carbon seatpost ?

Decided to upgrade my seat post to a carbon pave seatpost . i fitted it to what felt write and went out and on the bike and all was great .But then i went out last night and it slipped down about 2cms and has left some nice scuff marks on it !! I have now put it back to where i want but fear i might have over tightened it .How do you no when its tight enough .I borrowed a torque wrench but it only goes down to 8nm so not to sure if thats to high or not ?
any help is appreciated .

    It will depend somewhat on your frame. 8nm is quite a lot for a seatpost - my frame (Spesh Roubaix S-Works) specifies 6.2nm max.
