I could hear a strange noise coming from the rear wheel when freewheeling along. The noise is a bit hard to explain, it's not a creaking noise i know that much its more like a grinding kinda of maybe more of a gritty noise. Any way it's not the cone adjustment that's fine, not the bearings there not that old and it's not the cassette. So i span the wheel held the freehub body and held in one position it's fine but in another the noise is there so i have taken the freehub body off and if i hold it and by hand turn the it side from the back the noise is there and as i'm holding the freehub body i can feel a slight catching/grinding inside. I removed the rear seal and the small bearings are fine so i can only think it's something inside, could in be grit in which case do i just blast some WD40 inside from the back and hopefully clear the problem of is the freehub body knackered? it works fine accept from this noise and it's only about 4-6 months old.

It's a Deore Freehub by the way

i would just leave it alone and use it.

but as you have it in bits, you could flush it out with WD40 but then you will need to lube it. so dribble some gear oil in re fit seal and re fit.
