Apart from the fact that he isn't the next Lance Armstrong, he has apparently split with his wife.
That, and he's off the Disco juice and with a clean Slipstream. :P

Doesn't it mean he has a load of minor team dopers ahead of him?

Serious mode - good result for Daniel Martin.

I was going to post the same but was worried everyone would accuse me of being negative or something

I wonder if he's still off to France next month...

TD for the Tour? Not on this form, unless his name  get's him a ride.
There are a lot of minor dopers and unheard of riders ahead of him. I don't think I've ever seen such an unrecognisable list.
However, a name who failed to make the trial cut off time:-
HD Aurélien Clerc (Swi) Bouygues Telecom 9.28.61

A pity, as today's stage to Super Bagneres is a real toughie. Straight up the Tourmalet, plus the Peyresourde, the Col du Val Louron and the big finish. Nothing like it in Switzerland.
No tv or net coverage, either. :(

I did wonder if maybe he was holding back to try something today to springboard Mr Martin but who knows. Where did you hear about him spliting from his wife?

He's clearly not working with his previous coach anymore.

From another forum, so not written in tablets of stone. I will have a search for a secondary source.

According to the Slipstream site, TD helped Dan out a fair bit.

Staffordshire I believe. He was living there still last winter as there was a feature somewhere, Cycling Weekly maybe, where they met up with him to go training.

He was UK national junior champion a few years back then chose to race under an Irish license. His mum is Stephen Roche's sister hence the Irish heritage.

It was a fantastic stage!!. I had the pleasure of being in the lead car with Andre Masse the President of the Route du Sud and it really was a great experience to see these riders take on Tourmalet, Val Louron, Peyresourde and Superbagneres. Dan did well on Superbagneres though the Miche rider Niemiec did a great job of grinding down Loubet who had broken away through Luchon and had a 1'30 lead after the 1st half of the climb.
    180k in temperatures of 30+

I am hoping that one day soon we will get the tour to stage a finish in Superbagneres as the last one was 1989.
