What tools do I need to change my chainset and BB on my Giant SCR2 from the standard truvativ chainset to a Shimano tiagra triple chainset?

to get the truvativ one out you will need:

crank extractor to get the cranks off the BB
    like this:

BB tool to remove the old BB - not sure what type you have but it is probably like this:

I assume the Tiagra triple you are loking at is a HollowtechII type - which is a great piece of kit by the way - I fitted one to my old trek pilot and it was excellent kit at a great price.

The hollowtechII is a very easy instal as once you have fitted the outboard bearings the cranks are a push fit and then tighten up the left hand crank - you could do with one of these though to fit the outboard bearings:

Would you say swapping a chainset is a pretty easy job if you have the tools?

    yes.

especially the new external BB type - the hollowtechII, the FSA equivalent and the campag Ultra-torque stuff - very easy indeed.
