after a bit of a wait from wiggle, its arrived this pm. Spend 10 mins putting new SPDSL pedals on it and attaching handlebars etc.

First impressions, WOW what a great looking bike - the images on Wiggle do not do it any justice whatsoever - Wiggle if you're reading this get some better shots for your website.

Second impression - WOW - weighs about as much as a bottle of coke, and far less than my Kona mountain bike.

Few stupid questions though...

1. how do I change down gear? (i.e. from 1st to 10th, or is that changing down?) can change up ok, but in what was left of my lunch hour couldnt figure out how to change up.

2. Got the SPD SL pedals set at maxium "-" yet still a stuggle to get feet out - any tips? My mountain bikes got different cleats and these are much easier to unclip.

Thanks

Neil :D

Assuming the Cayo is Shimano equipped you need to push the whole lever assembly (i.e. the brake lever and the little lever you presumably used to change up) across to change down. Similarly to move to the big chainring on the front.

As for the pedals, us roadies just have stronger ankles than MTB weaklings

Seriously, you'll just get used to it, the more secure fit is part of the SPD-SL appeal, but once you get the knack, it doesn't require any real force to release.

I'll never forget my first road bike in 2001. Spent over 2 hours in the kitchen trying to figure out how on earth you changed back up the sprocket!

thanks folks, will post some pics up later if I get time - but a bit of road testing planned for tonight,

Thanks also for the gear changing link and info too - save me having to pedal everywhere in 10th!

Sure I'll get to grips with the pedals, almost toppled sideways of my mountain bike when I first used cleats with that and couldnt get my shoes out.

The SL plastic cleats "wear in" after a few rides. They are always going to be a bit tighter than SPD's but on a road bike that's a plus.
