Bottom Bracket replacement

I have an old (30 yrs) Viking Goldstar and I think the bottom bracket is worn. It is, I am pretty sure, a cup and cone one. Rather than try and overhaul this, is it possible to fit a new cassette style bottom bearing, and if so, how?

All help gratefully received.

it would be a cup and cone at that age and I would fit a cartrage b/b.

Just take out the old B/B then mesure the axel legnth (103-120) then the the width of the B/B shell on the bike (63-70something) the order your self a square taper B/B of that size.
You will need the tool to fit it but as cart b/bs last forever it would be cheaper to borrow one
