I'm looking at getting myself a new Hydration pack.
I currently have the Hydrapak AS Trail, which is fine, but limited in storage space.
I like the look of the Hydrapak Big Sur, especially the 2007 model, mainly because of the stowage netting, which means i can keep my waterproof strapped safely when not being worn.

However, i'm unsure what the padding on the back is like. The 2008 Big Sur comes with "Air Chairman Ventilation", but it doesn't have the stowage net. I cant seem to find any pictures or info of the padding on the 2007 model.

Any owners here care to help me out?

  • no, but just got myself a Dakine Nomad and can confirm it is a great bit of kit. dead comfy, loads of good useful storage and a good quality bladder also. well worth a look. capacity is listed as 19l if that helps.

Recently got myself the 2007 model. Heres some pics of the padding. Not sure how it compares to the 2008 one? I havent loaded it up to the max yet, but its performed well so far and is very comfortable. Its also the first hydration pack ive had so can't offer any advice on how it compares to others.
    hope these help

    Thanks nicka 8)

Does the inside of the pack have a plastic sheet to keep it rigid against your back?

No, nothing rigid, it moulds to your back for comfort but the pads you see on the back are quite raised so air can flow through.
