Ive just got myself a pair of Sidi shoes and am a little confused with the reinforcement plate, the books telling me to take a blade to my new shoes  , then to push some metal inserts out and substitute them, does this have to be done and what is the reason for it, and what do you use for substitution because ive never had to do this with other shoes ive had, sorry if this sounds a numpty question btw

  • What sort of Sidi shoes and what sort of cleats are you trying to fit? I've never had to do anything to Sidi shoes (MTB or Road).

I read that on the instructions to mine, then decided to delete it from memory (take a knive to my expensive shoes, no way!!) and installed the cleats as per normal. Never had an issue with them..

Yeah, I seem to recall there were some weird instructions... I too ignored them, although i can't recall quite what they were suggesting I do.

Are they MTB or road shoes? I've had to do that kind of thing with MTB shoes before now, but never with road shoes. My Sidi road cycling shoes just have a solid composite sole and the cleats bolt straight on.

PS Oops - just noticed - this is a very old thread!
