On my mates bike, the front disc brake came loose so we tightened the mounting bolts which sorted the problem, but in doing so it brought the pads closer to the disc itself, so they are constanlty rubbing againt the disc. I would suggest pushing the pads apart using something clean and then pumping the lever with the wheel back on? Am i right?

if you reset the pads you should also realign the calliper. I do this as follows with my brakes:

    1. reset the pads

    2. loosen the bolts just enough to allow free side-to-side movement of the calliper but keep up-down movement to a minimum

    3. spin the wheel and engage the brake

    4. tighten the bolts with the brake locked

    5. check alignment

I recently had an issue with my brakes where some cleaver sod closed my font brakes with my wheel out and closed the brakes. I managed to get the calliper apart just enough to get the wheel and the disc in. The issue is my front wheel doesn't flow freely as it is catching on the disc. Can I use the steps you listed as a possible solution, or does anyone know of the best way to correct this?

    Thx!

effectivly what your left with is the same problem as robbiemagic is having by the sounds of it. The procedure above should work.

Slugger - just had the same happen with my Juicy 5s (except it was my fault!).

Just prized them apart using a big screwdriver and some aggro force between the pads to prize them apart. Also replaced the pads while I was at it.

It's easy once you've done it once.
