Tyre recommendation.

I travel 20 miles per day to work and back. Most of the trip is road bound, about 16 miles. The rest is canal tow path. My current tyres are about buggered and im just wondering what would be a good choice for the new uns. The bike is a rockhopper with the standard specialized tyres on it at the moment. I would ideally like something that's quicker overall, but doesn't puncture too easily.

Specialised Armadillos would be an option.

I saw these schwalbe tyres in Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative today and they looked the business for mixed on/off road use with a nice flat wiggly central tread pattern but with quite deep knobles elsewhere.

I can't recommend them from personal use but they looked good - nice deep tread so should be pretty puncture resistant.

The picture on here is a bit crappy but gives an idea of the tread pattern - in the flesh they are much better:

The only thing to mention is the ones I saw today had a 5mm wide reflective trim around the sidewalls - not sure if you'd like that or if its an option and you can get them without also.

Might be worth you trying to see them in the flesh if you can find them.

Those Schwables have a massive layer of blue puncture protection material in them (we have a cross section in the shop). Adds a fair bit of weight but no-one's coma back complaining of any punctures yet!

I used to have Halo twin rail tyres which roll really nicely when pumped up to 85psi. They can have their pressure dropped to around 65psi and can be used for light off road.
