Changing from Compact to Standard chainset - chain length?

Changing from 50/34 to 53/39 chainset with a Campag Centaur rear mech. I think the mech is a medium cage length.
Do I need to lengthen or shorten my chain?
Do I need to get a short cage length rear mech?

Should I just do it and see :oops:

    you won't need to change the mech as the medium will cover most gearing combos (what is the cassette out of interest?)

    you will probably need a new chain though as it will need to be a little longer to go around the new bigger "big chainring / big sprocket' combination. (not that you will use it in that manner - but it is generally how chains are sized!)
