Cycling in Colchester

...I see Colchester is a designated cycling town. I was in Colchester last week on my bike...what a horror of a place to ride! At one point we followed a cycle lane that just finished in huge pile of mud! The traffic was manic...fast and lots of it...Boy have they got a lot of work to do there...anyone live there or know it?
...all the way...'til the wheels fall off and burn...

    I would love to defend the place, as I live in that neck of the woods, but the road layout was designed by the Romans before to bicycle was invented, and the traffic has just been getting worse since the legions left. :o
