This follows on from an earlier post so apologies for the new thread.

I've finally got to the end of the road on the bike search and have decided on a Fuel EX. However, do I want a:

- Fuel EX 7 for £1,200 or a
- Fuel EX 8 for £1,500 (a little bit of a discount)?

I'd like to order today if possible so that I can collect at the weekend so any speedy advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

    Views but no thoughts...

Anyone got any ideas - is the £300 extra worth it for the upgrade from Recon to Fox and Bonty Select to Race wheels? Don't think there's any realy difference elsewhere.

    Sorry to be a nuisance.

I think you've spotted the main difference, that and slightly better brakes

I have the EX 8 and love it - Also the wheels are tubeless ready if you want to go down that route.

as its a close call for you I would normally recommend either choose the colour you like - lame I know but would you buy it if it was pink and blue ? or just flip a coin - that one works for me every time.

anyhows whichever version you go for your going to have great fun with it - enjoy

:) My LBS has the black EX 8 in stock... might have been a different matter had it been the green one!

would go for the EX8, i have had one for about a month now and the upgrades to kit would be over £300 I think?????

Both will be excellent though, I rode a lot before settleing on these.

    8 may be lighter too????

    Good luck

Mines black too - - when its clean :lol::lol::lol::lol:

When you get it make sure they throw in some cable rub patches - the cable housings can be very abrasive !!! - cos they a stiff - I guess thats a good thing !!!!

Is the EX 8 $300 more before or after a discount?

If your ordering from your LBS, maybe ask them what they're willing to do on the price if you upgrade from the EX7 to the EX8?
I had a similar dilemma when i bought my Rockhopper. My LBS offered to split the difference between the price of the Comp and the Pro if i went for the Pro. Ended up with $80 off the RRP off the Pro in the end :D

Ordered the 7. Couldn't reconcile the difference in price...

    Still not sure, though! :?

Change it to the 8 - then see how you feel - you can always change back again

(or just give the retailer a good kicking on the price of the 8 )

I'm not sure on the actual difference is spec, but $300 is a hell of a lot.

Maybe treat yourself to some new accesories with the money you've saved?

i had the same dilemma so went to the trouble of adding up every bit of kit difference between the EX7 and EX8, because although i liked the 7 i preferred the colour of the 8 so just wanted an excuse to spend the extra money! I got the difference to be £379 so that was enough for me :D

The main differences were wheels (£120), forks (£120) and brakes (£60)

Hope to pick it up later today if i can slouch off work early.

Couldnt get a cash discount as part of the bike is through cycle scheme and the retailer loses 10% on that...did get a pair of shoes thrown in though

What difference do people think the upgraded wheels and fork will actually make?

I am intending on buying an EX-7 later today as well (there seem to be a lot of us at the minute!).

The wheels are only 50g lighter (each) than the EX-9, which I didnt think sounded much and from what I have read, the Recon fork is pretty good, although I guess it is fractionally heavier.

Ok, so the EX-8 colour scheme is worth about £300 on its own, but do people think I would notice the difference in riding an EX-7 to an 8?
