Small cut in tyre

Had a puncture at the weekend which I've now fixed, but I'm left with a small (less than 1/4") cut in the sidewall of the tyre (700 x 23) through which I can see a little of the inner tube.

Am I asking for trouble riding on this, or is a cut that small ok?

New tyre?

Thanks

    Thanks for the advice.

Any recommendations for a reasonably priced tyre with good puncture protection? Don't need top end race tyres, something more modest will do fine.

    Cheers.

    Deda tyres are pretty reasonable.

I have a set that are on my old spare aksium wheelset that are 3000miles usage and no punctures. I think they can be had for £6 for (rigid 350g) or £9 250g for (folding 240g).

they are pretty grippy and do well in wet and dry conditions.

ParkTools do a tyre boot. I don't chuck my tyres just because of a tyre wall cut. I boot them and then see what happens. I only bin them if the cut effects the thread pattern so that the tyre wall bulges. If only the tube is forcing out before I install the boot, I keep them for a lot more.

Each to their own but I use Michelin Krylions and the actual tyre has lasted for another 3,000 miles for example.

I never knew that! Don't suppose you have a link for the product do you?

Re: tyres - The longest lasting tyre I ever had was a Michelin, so I assume that their training tyres are still like that. But I found them to have really poor grip.
