Hi All,

was just about to push the button on a Cannondale F4, but have been kind of put off by the apparent issues with the headshox.

Now seems as though Trek have dropped the price on a few of the 6000 series and the 6700 , dropped by £150 comes well into my budget. It seems to be quite a lot of bike for the money and would leave me £ 50 extra for spares etc. (stem upgrade?) - just wanted to know who's tried one and what you thought.

I'm looking for a quick light XC/ winter bike.

cheers philip

good frame, always thought the trek hardtails are a bit expensive for the spec..but with money off that changes things. depending how you feel about buying of the web then the Focus Black Forest worht a look and is cheaper giving you more money for a couple of persoanl upgrades

Had a quick go on one at evans cycles on monday night.

Decided to go with a GT in the end, personal preference really, but the trek is a great bike. Had read about the stem being too long and i'm not at all an expert only a novice but I agree, its a long frame anyways, and the stem produced a ride position I wasn't too happy with.

The bike is very light though, noticebly so. And its a great spec. The breaks feel really solid, and it very nearly tempted me, had I liked the paint job more I probably would have gone for it.

definately try it before you buy, for XC it'll probably suit you perfectly. Its a lot of bike for the money with the reduction! I think you would regret it not trying it first imo

    Hmmm thanks for that.

I quite like a more stretched out position and don't mind the colour. My LBS who stock trek don't have that model in at the moment. I'm getting it on the C2W scheme anyway - so feel kind of guilty testing there first (they do however get plenty of custom from me in bits and bobs).

I've got a feeling that Trek are changing models soon as only 17.5 and 19.5 available at the moment. So I think a decision will have to be soon. Anyway at this rate I'll be making my first payment without a bike

what C2W scheme? I'm doing the same, company are signing up with evans so i've tested all my bikes there, once i've picked I get a voucher and buy it in store.

Someone had mentioned on here before that Trek were very limited in numbers left, even the one I tried in brighton evans was a 19.5 that had been returned for some reason.

It does look good paint wise, I just prefered the GT. I was sorely tempted!

    Hi Gibbo

I'm tied into the Halfords scheme, but they checked today and supposedly had availability in 17.5 which is what I'd want. Will sleep on it and decide tomorrow morning.
