Ten speed and chains

I read an article yesterday recommending that if you have a 10 piece cassette you should change your chain every 6 months. Why should wear be worse with 10 gears rather than 9?

And if the article is correct can anyone recommend a decent chain?

I have a Cayo Expert with Ultegra gearing

    A 10 speed chain a narrower than a 9 speed chain but the rate of wear and therefore the need to change the chain would depend on several factors, namely mileage, the conditions that you ride in i.e. wet/dry and also how well you maintain it, you can't just say change your change every 6 months.
