...super record 11 to be exact. Probably the nicest pieces of porn I have seen in a long time. I can feel a build coming on.

looks sweet to me - dread to think what the RRP will be though - and the $1m question - will it be under 2kg all-in groupset like sram red.0 -
Well, I'm a Campag fan...(as my avatar shows) but I feel a bit ambivalent to the new ergo levers, on one hand, they look like they may well be more comfortable OTOH, in my opinion they look ugly.
I should think campag will get the groupset below 2Kgs, however, I'm worried that the main selling point is 11 speed, doesn't sound like a major performance increase. You live and learn. At any rate, you live0 -
I am genuinely intrigued, and not taking the rise, but what is the fascination wth another gear ratio?
10 spd is difficult enough to adjust for smooth shifting day day in day out and have the chain last a decent length of time. Having a range of what 90" is enough for most mortals...? Or is it just a fashion must have thing?0 -
They've come here too, the 11 speed haters, they're like pigeons!
Seriously though, 11 speed will allow those weaklings who need anything larger than a 23 rear cog to have a closer ration cassette, plus its one better. You live and learn. At any rate, you live0 -

My 10 Speed Campag on my good bike hasn't needed tweaking since I built the bike (excluding a bit of cable stretch), kept better indexing than some of the 8speed Shimano Stuff I've had in the past.0 -

I'm no flat earther so I don't "hate" 11 speed, then neither am I a slave to fashion. I'm afraid that ever since the demise of the Alfasud, I have no faith in anything Italian being anything more than another false dawn. I'll take the ruthless logic and efficiency of the orientals over nostalgic romance nowadays..
best answer yet!0 -

I reduced my 10sp to 8sp by removing 2 of the medium sprockets and putting a spacer behind the big sprocket.I've found this to be more than adequate.0

It's about selling more stuff to people who already have stuff that works fine . How else are they going to make money ? ( I'll be getting mine as soon as they come out obviously )The UCI are Clowns and Fools0

it was possible to modify 9 speed levers to go 10 speed. I wonder if it will be poss. to do that with 10 to go 11. that way, we can save some cash altho we know that a lot of people on this site are already waving cheque books about in anticipation

but people who buy these top end campag will want these lovely things for whatever reason they decide... I wouldn't say no
more cogs=more grams surely???

I wouldn't consider 11speed until KMC or Wippermann come out with their 11 speed chains, joining Campag or Shimano chains is a pain in the arse.Clever Pun wrote:more cogs=more grams surely???
Not if the cogs are lighter.0 -

In a way you are right but they get round this. 9 speed was marketed as lighter than 8 speed but this was achieved because they started drilling holes in all the sprockets rather than just the very biggest ones....then they changed the spline pattern which created less surface area...then they mounted groups of sprockets on alloy carriers that saved the most weight. 11speed will be very marginally lighter than 10 speed because of a new method of combining several sprockets.
I have no doubt that if 8 speed sprockets used multiple alloy carriers and were drilled they'd be as light as 11 speed.I'd rather walk than use Shimano0 -
Apparently 6 of the 11 cogs will be titanium,so will save weight there for a startso many cols,so little time!0

No wonder fixies are so popular these days.0

Many of the cogs have been titanium since the days of 9 speed though...although I don't think any more than 4 in the steel/ti cassette in the 10 and 3 in the 9..I'd rather walk than use Shimano0 -

They would have been better producing a one-piece machined cassette a la SRAM, but perhaps that is on the way, once everybody has made the initial purchase.M.Rushton0 -

Not if the cogs are lighter.
And they'll be thinner, which lessens the weight of each individual sprocket a tad.
