Campag Neutron Ultras

I bought a set of these one year ago and have been delighted with them, but I had a rear spoke break this afternoon with no provocation -- rear wheel, non-drive side, right at the rim. Couldn't ride home as the wheel distorted too much to clear the frame.

I can't find any web references to problems with Neutron Ultras (and a reputable shop assured me recently that they'd had very few breakages) but I reckon I must be the third or fourth member of my club to have ride-stopping breakages. The same shop also told one of my fellow-members that it probably wasn't worth rebuilding his rear wheel; I'll see what they say about mine tomorrow.

Has anyone here got any relevant info? I'm bloody glad they didn't let go on any of the Dragon descents on Sunday, but my confidence in them is a bit shaken....

Yeah, Campag wheels are a bore if a spoke goes, or the hub needs servicing

For the Eurus, you need a special tool to true them

If a spoke goes on Zondas they are unrideable, and I'm still trying to get the right spokes several months after the incident (my fault)

I'm likely to get DT Swiss 1450 next or some nice handbuilts with easily serviceable hubs (again Campag cones at £12 each hurt a lot-when others are so cheap)

Cycle Superstore in Dublin stock Campag spoke kits and will do repairs. Six months ago I sent a Zonda wheel with a broken spoke (caused by a crash) to them; they replaced the spoke, trued the wheel and sent it back the next day. Wheel has been perfect ever since.
