now after making a boob of my brakes I have some more and on reading what it says in MBUK's grimetime of "bleeding Shimano and Hope disc brakes" it says:

"Using a hard plastic tyre lever or something similar - so that you don't damage the surface of the pistons - push the brake pistons back into the calliper body. Insert a spacer to stop the pistons moving during the bleeding procedure"

I know it may sound stupid but what is a spacer? and where can I get one from?

can I also mix Shimano BL-M485 levers with a Shimano XTR M965 calliper?

how so that it need replacing? new seals and a bleed will be a lot less than a new caliper and a bleed.
