Tektro cantilever brakes
Swithered about whether to post this here or on MTB forum, but as the brakes are on a cyclocrosser which hasn't been off road yet I thought this was the place:
The straddle cable carrier on these brakes has two 2.5mm grub screws which hold it together see http://www.tektro.com/04support/pdf/000907CR720.pdf
The screws themselves are slightly convex at the end. My problem is that if you fully tighten them they do not close the carrier enough to grip the straddle cable. In the diagram above it seems that the screws close onto the cable, but being pointed I'm concerned that they will dig into & wreck the cable. Clearly the straddle cable needs to be held, otherwise the brake arms will not hold in their balanced position.
Anyone any ideas?

I've been using these for a few months and have been very impressed.
I'm not sure I understand your question, the screws are not there to hold the yoke together just to keep the straddle wire in a fixed position. Many canti brakes don't bother with this and leave the wire free running. I wouldn't worry about damaging the wire.
You may want to change the brake blocks, I found the Tektros pretty poor, I replaced with Koolstop Salmon V brake cartridge pads which are loads better.0 -
Thanks for that, I'll try the Koolstops.0
