We have argyle pattern in the peloton. Why not plaid too?

As long as the kit is not blue and white.

Good news I think - they're a decent name firm, and getting any major sponsor in the current climate is a job well done.

Very good news. Columbia have a deep implication in all other sectors they sponsor and have great corporate ethics. Good job, Bob.

I think this is good for the sport. Cycling's been hemoraging sponsors, so to see a new one come in with a 3 year deal and get started right away is very good news. I also think it's a great deal for Columbia as they get the TDF as their "unveiling." A big stage.

    Imagine the negotiations

Bob : And there is a lot of synergy between cycling and the markets you sell heavily into...

    Columbia : Really? For example?

Bob : Well, you have a picture of someone fishing on your web page, well we use Daiwa groupsets on our bikes!

    Rolf : That Shimano Bob.

Bob : I knew it was something to do with fishing

Exactly they are a good brand to have in the sport.

    This is "team Colombia":

Anything else is an unnatural perversion!

Just because it's spelt with a "u" instead of an "o" isn't acceptable

Takes me back to when I first got interested in cycling as a teenager - Parra and Herrera out-climbing the pack on their ultra-whippy Vitus Carbone frames [1], and so on....

    :

Were they Vitus Carbone's ? I thought they were 979s? I could be wrong on that...

Anyway, speaking of Vitus... I remember a few years back the Vitus frames made a comeback with the lotto team (the year Durand rode for them).. I remember I really wanted one of them.... Also lusted after those cool carbon bikes the Z team had in the days of Lemond and Millar with those delta brakes ... wow .... sorry I go off on these tangents!

Speaking of which remember those cool Oakley Iridium lenses that Soren Lilleholt used to wear ?

Herrera definitely rode a carbon Vitus (with Mavic SSC group) in at least one TdF - I've a double page pic of him on it in a compilation of Graham Watson photos at home.
