After four months of use my frame has developed a creak. It's really annoying. I've taken the seatpost off and put it back on again. I've done the same with the bar. It's still there.

It only creaks when I'm in the saddle. When I get out of the saddle on a climb or to sprint it goes away. Any idea what this might be, or what else I should check?

Have you tried looking at the seatpost clamp and perhaps applying some grease?

No, I'll give that a go. Cheers!

I actually meant the saddle clamp but try the seatpost clamp as well. Just the threads of the clamp screw, not the clamping surfaces.
  • I'd also check the points where the saddle rails mount on the saddle. The saddle material can fret on the rails causing an annoying creak. A quick (small) spray of GT85 usually cures it.
Perpetuating the myth that Lincolnshire is flat.

greased the seatpost. no more creaking - raced 60 miles on it today.

    sorted!
