Blackfriars Underpass

Does anyone here actually cycle though this?

It looks scary as s**t. More like a covered motorway than a London Street.

From what I can tell the section from Blackfriars is downhill than the rest is flat all the way through to lower Thames Street?

I ride it twice a day and have done for every commute since 1996. The underpass itself is fine, and a very fast section of road.

The danger points are the sliproads at either end of it.

I usually pull off just before it starts and go round Blackfriars Station but getting across that lane of traffic can be a bit tricky.

I use it on my commute. It's great. Safest bit of road in the 11 miles (no peds, no lights etc). I'm normally pretty calm in the traffic but I usually spin up to 130rpm through there and go as fast, if not faster, than the rest of the traffic :)

I agree with Jon: it's a fast, reasonably smooth stretch and probably safer than it first appears
You can\'t have everything.... Where would you put it?
