Gt agressor xc3 Chain Slip

Hey there guys i'm looking for some advice. I bought a gt agressor xc3 from halfords 3 months ago and have always had a chain slip problem. Last week i finally found some time to get it sorted out it turned out that the rear mech was bent so they replaced that that didnt work so they replaced the chain, the rear and front cassette along with the derailluers. This reduced it from doing it in all gears just in front 1,2 and back 7,8 so the guy that was dealing with me told me to speak to his superviser so the bike could be replaced as this shouldnt happen. Yesterday i spoke to the superviser and he told me that he spoke to GT and was told that this is a problem on all the xc3's. I took the bike back home and got my dad to ring him up when he did this he was told that the gears arent meant to work in certain combinations is this correct?

I have had many mtbs in the past and they have never done this where shall i go from here?

read the set up guide on Parktools and yes you should not use certain gear combos.

but it sounds like just poor gear set up.
