I was just about to post that - "Now Evans attacks! " from cyclingnews.com commentary. There you go...

And a stage for Bouygues Telecom. Bravo Trofimov!

Evans rode really well. Didn't panic when the others rode away from him just chugged away. When he got back on he didn't so much attack as find himself on the front and just though bugga it and pushed on.... Great stage. And second for me too!! Woo!

Wow, that was short coverage, today.

Once had a weeks holiday over-looking the foot of the Joux-Plane. Nice spot, indeed.

I think they might have ended up doing track stands, if Gesink hadn't been there.
He's once again made all the running.

Good to see the World's two greatest wheel-suckers fighting for last slot in the line. Leiposuction has become so good at hiding in the group, it took me ten minutes to find him, even wearing the green jersey!

Cadel was lying "doggo" as Duffers would say. At one point, I thought he was about to pop.

Instead, when Piti attacked, it was Levi who blew, big time. No question who Evans thought was the biggest GC threat. Once the Astana man cracked, he was all over the front of the group.

The Aussie has become a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde type character, this season. I much prefer the new Hyde to the old Jekyll.
He's need to let his new persona do the Tour talking.

Why? Did that not happen, or was I watching another race?
Losing over a minute, is a lot for a GC contender in a week stager.
I did say Evans thought LL a bigger threat than Valverde.
    That's why he worked on
the front. To get rid of LL.
Is that not a compliment? :?

I referred to him as the Astana man, because I get fed up of LL, Levi, Leipheimer, Leiposuction (my personal fav, pity it didn't work for Evans) or Lance junior.
    Too L with it!

I thought Levi's comments were amusing

VN: Evans said he attacked when he saw you suffering a little bit, how was it up the final part of the climb?

LL: I don’t understand what Cadel was doing. People who win the Tour de France don’t race like that. He was just doing Alejandro’s job for him. Now he has second instead of third.

    He does have a point....

No he doesn't. Evans saw that a rider ahead of him was in trouble so put the boot in and gained a place on GC as his reward. He can attack Valverde another day. People who win the Tour de France (and one wonders how the f**k Levi knows anything about that) do ride like that.

I disagree. If Evans could put the boot into Valverde, fair enough, but he couldn't. All Valverde had to do was follow Evans wheel - It he'd tried to attack Valverde and gapped Levi then it's a different story. But he's just playing into Valverde's hands - All he has to do is watch Evans and job done.

On the other hand if he hadn't got rid of Leipheimer today then when he attacked Valverde Leipheimer might have just sat on his wheel. I think on balance I'd rather be in second than third.

it's a hard life if you don't weaken.

So, they should have sat up and looked at eachother, while they waited for Levi.....
Why on earth would they allow a dangerous contender regain the group?
Evans is constantly criticised for not attacking, so, if he hadn't,
everyone would be on his back.
They'd look pretty stupid if LL takes tomorrow's stage and they'd
had an gilt edged opportunity, but behaved like those Giro "sheep", with Contador.

Evans showed his strength and he needed to dent Valverde's confidence re the Tour,
regardless of who wins on Sunday.

The thing with Evans is, he doesn't really do do training rides. If he's there he will compete. Sometimes this means attacking, sometimes it means wheelsucking.

There were three people in GC contention today - Evans's turn took one of them out. Next he'll go for Valverde. Leipheimer is just not as good as Evans.
