What's the nicest thing anyone did for you.....?
In a world where everyone is at each other I thought I'd ask for stories on the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you, no matter how big/small.
I'll go first then....
This relates to a post in another thread in this forum:
Received a phone call at work 10 or so years ago, to tell me my father had been rushed to Hospital with a Heart attack...big blow, anyway after telling my Supervisor he told me to go and I would still be paid for the full day (nice...but not the reason I'm posting). At the time I worked about 15 - 20 miles away from the hospital and I was told in a subsequent call from my brother that it was touch and go.
So needless to say I was off like a bat out of hell, many sections of the Highway code were being ignored (I would say it was justified even though I was in the wrong) ie the 50mph limit on the main road I was on (I was doing 70). At this point I see the Volvo T5 pull in behind me lights blazing and sirens going, so I duly pull over and explained my predicament to which the reply I got was quite astounding and I still remember it to this day.
The officer asked me "What size engine you got?"
"1300" was my reply
"Okay no problem follow me"
What the officer did was give me, with the help of another officer in another traffic car, a blue light escort to the Hospital...the works lights sirens the lot. Now he did tell me at the Hospital that he would check to make sure I wasn't pulling his leg, he checked passed on his wishes to my Father and family and then went on his way. Now I'm not sure if this was entirely legal or whether they are allowed to do this kind of thing but we never broke 70 mph!
See they ain't all B******s.

Gavin G beat me with a variation of what would have been my answer 1, so probably my GP when he broke rules and gave me scripts for the big BIG bag of drugs to let me de-tox at home instead of in the psych lock-down ward. Five years, 1 month and 2 weeks later and I'm still dry.d.j.
