It never ceases to amuse me that the first port of refuge from ACF and CycleChat is here - the place where a lot of members of those two establishments flounced out of in disgust a while back.

    Me too, locked out.

I look at ACF every so often, especially when I'm doing audaxes. It's a funny bizarre world, one that awaits all of us.
You just have to ride like you never have to breathe again.

  • I dinna flounce anywhere Andyp.

I came in here to see if I could establish what or why I am having problems getting back in to ACF as there is not a way of directly contacting them.

Off topic comments are so helpful.

ACF's nowhere near as active as it used to be. I won't go into the story - I'm not 100% sure what happened - but a significant portion of ACFers jumped ship and formed Yet Another Cycling Forum. Some post on both, and elsewhere I guess. Of the 2, I think that YACF is the busier.

It's a pity - ACF was an excellent site.

Good grief...haven't you ever noticed that when one of ACF, YACF, CC, BR or other sites is down people ask about it on one of the others mentioned!?....especially as many people are members of 2 or more sites
I'd rather walk than use Shimano
  • Cheers Crapaud.

I don't cycle nearly as much as I used to either but I like to read the going's on.

Yeah, there were a lot of people doing interesting and, to my mind, herculean things on their bikes - all very inspirational. I registered on ACF less than a year ago and I'm de-registered as well for not posting enough (as far as I can tell). Trying to keep up with more than one forum's too time consuming. Now, I don't bother to try.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but whatever happened to this place? I just had a look in and it's page after page of Sam posting replies to himself, with no sign of anyone else on there.

All a bit weird looking, I take it everyone got deregistered in the end?

The Master went mad, the serfs revolted.....

most of them went across to yACF, which they set up on their own. Actually it's not a bad forum. Nowhere near as up itself as ACF was, but still tends towards self-referential back-slapping. In all honesty Commuting here has the zeitgiest now.

As for Munn/Walker...... does anyone really care?
