Its the mrs birthday soon and the other day she said she would use her ipod more if she had one of these docking stations. anyway I'm pleased with myself that for once I've picked up on a possible hint but being a techno duffer I've no idea whats good and whats not. Any suggestions please.
Looking at about the £100 mark. cheers.

Plenty to choose from at that pricepoint. I used the dock that syncs the iPod with the PC and hooked it up to the amp on the hi-fi with a 3.5mm to twin jack cable.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

What do you want to do with the dock? If it's just connect the ipod to your mac (or PC if you must ) then the apple store has the official dock with remote. Search for ipod dock on ebay and you'll get cheapy versions of the same thing for a tenner or less. Most docks have a jack outlet to let you connect to external speakers or a hi fi.
If you want to dock your ipod with external speakers then there are good products from Bose and JBL most of which also connect to your computer. Again see Apple store as a starting point.
I bought this dock to connect with my imac as its also a USB hub.

With speakers costing £100 I thought this was good value, it's a micro hifi for same money, we use it in kitchen and its got the best ipod compatability I've come across in a stand alone micro hifi.

Alternatively push the boat out and by an iMac, your wife won't be impressed but you'll never regret it.Where the neon madmen climb0 -

ah gotcha...
you can get plenty for about that price, if it's a holiday one there are plenty of travel options I've had one for a couple of years and it's great (a little tinny but you can't have everything)
Get yourself down to an apple store and they have a load to choose from..
get one with battery (good in the garden for example) and mains adapter (which also charges the ipod when it's in the dock.
for example
