My Audax tourer (full guards, rack etc) is off the road as I'm waiting for new chainrings to finish drivetrain replacement (Spa Cycles have posted them to me so ta very much!)

But every cloud has a silver lining in that a guy on a road bike I sometimes pass or who sometimes passes me spoke to me for the first time in must be 18 months.

All very nice, admired my bike, chatted away then we went our separate ways. Only occurred to me later that this was the only time I've met him while I was commuting on my road bike.

Couldn't be that he blanks me other times cos I'm on a tourer could it?

I mean, I wave or nod to everybody and when I'm on my Viffer I even wave to Harley riders.

When I'm on my Africa Twin, I always do the nod wave thing, but I have noticed sports bike riders are reluctant to do so, especially the wannabe racers.
I nod wave and say hello to everyone on my commute, if they choose to ignore me, well it's their loss.

Actually, when I was on the Hornet, I found that Harley riders tended to blank me more than any other group. And won't you be in danger of RSI if you come across a HOG rideout?? :-P

I nod and wave to people I recognise when I'm cycling - most of them are people I know from walking the dog (well, I say I know them - I know their dogs' names, but none of the owners! :-P), though, not fellow cyclists.

A month or so ago I was putting up 'Cycle Event - Caution' signage at the roundabout (7:00am) used as the turn I was timing for an open 25. I was dressed in my gear as I was off to participate in another event straight after. Anyway this guy on a v.flash road bike came up, lovely weather and ideal for a run out. All I got back for my 'Morning' was a blank - made me mutter under my breath 'ignorant $%*&'.

About 90mins later he comes back, saw what I was at with clipboard and hi-vis bib and said morning as he went passed - I didn't respond - †@$$€Γ

First time I was in our local pub someone introduced me to someone else and said "You know - Bosley's dad" Bosley being our Hungarian Vizsla at the time!
