Hi all,

Setup i have at the moment is a shimano rear mech with some shimano bar end shifters.

If i put the shifters to friction, and switched to a campag wheel set say, would it still work? (reseting the limit screws as required)

How different are the chains, I presume the chainsets don't matter to much... (Running a campag/shimano mix at the moment)

Thanks

Will

I run a similar rig; Shimano DA rear mech and DT levers (8speed system) in friction mode with 9speed Campag cassette. This was intended to be a temporary measure, but has been on the winter bike now for three years! I thought it would be fiddly and imprecise, but it has turned out to be ok. I wouldn't use this with a 10 speed block, though as the sprocket pitch is too small.
