Cannondale why have you changed the colour schemes on your CAAD9's!!!!!

I had my heart set on the Ultegra in team colours

Although the spec on the CAAD9 4 suits me - I wanted that white frame, the CAAD9 1 which will cost a bomb thanks to being Dura ace is the only one that comes close. I guess I will have to go with either Black or Red.
Hopefully the prices on these are less since they have taken away some of the more expensive items

Oh well... two rants in a week...

Approaching this junction, and you can see how clear it is.

I'm turning right, the junction (where the van is in the photo) is clear when I am where the camera is. Nothing behind me, nothing coming towards me. I've moved to the centre line preparing to turn right.

Then Mondeo man turns up, I'm right AT the junction, he glances and pulls straight out. I'm clipped in so have little, if any time to stop; so I swerve violently to the left. NOW he sees me and slams his brakes on. The look of sheer horror on his face... he had NO idea I was there. I manage to swing around the front of his car and was going to stop. Only now, there is an Audi motoring towards us (NSL road) and he's forced to stop. I decide (looking at the still horrified look on the Mondeo driver's face) that nothing would be served by stopping and having a go, so gathered myself and cycled off.

I got a very apologetic wave off him, and the contrite look on his face told me that he'll be more careful next time.

On a cheerier note, just a mile up the road I saw a lorry driver wanting to pull out of a junction on the left, so I slowed and let him out - knowing full well he'd only have to overtake me if I went past. I got a very friendly wave and a smile, so positive karma restored :D

Blimey - I know that junction so well and it's 20 years since I was err knobbing aorund up there. Just had a quick tour of the area - Gotham, Sutton Bonnington, Ruddington, back down through Loughborough into civilisation around Hinckley. Aah they were the days.

Rant to make it fit the thread? Can't think of one. :)

Late rant. Reminded by Keiren's post. While I was cycling around in Devon a couple of weeks ago while in the narrow lanes I tended to pull in to laybys whenever there was a car/van behind so they could overtake.

EVERY SINGLE person I allowed to pass me said thanks in one form or other - usually a wave of the hand in their mirror.

Compare that to Kent where in the 18 months I've been cycling around NOT ONE person has said thanks for the same actions. In fact I've nearly been run off the road by a woman so desperate to get past me she couldn;t even wait till I got to the layby about a hundred yards ahead of me.

Sometimes I am extrmely proud to be from Devon - or at least not from Kent.

To the silver german car driver: Tailgating me at 27 mph isn't funny then passing me and waving your arm suggesting I should be in the 24" wide cyclelane isn't funny either, especially when I want the lane 2 across from where the cyclelane is. Why does this happen when I leave the rearview camera at home?
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Hey you Mr KV03 GVX van man. Not impressed with your driving skills. Try to remember your back end swings out when you turn left and I had no desire to get that close to you :x

Rant at myself - really must get better at navigation. My planned 33mile route last night became at least 45 miles after getting well and truly lost. Previous longest ride was 16 miles so a bit of a shock to the system going that much further than planned on a hilly route and forgetting to take any water.

I blame my tiredness and dehydration for my main rant at myself. Near the end of last nights longer than planned ride I somehow missed a bright red royal mail van when waiting to pull out of a junction and so scared the crap outta both of us pulling out when I shouldn't of  . Thanks to the driver of the van for being so understanding and checking me and bike were okay, and the lady in the car behind who witnessed the whole mess who wouldn't drive off until she was sure I was fine to ride the rest of the way home. Thankfully bike is fine and I got away with minor grazing and a sore wrist. Lesson learnt and I don't plan on doing that again!

they may hate cyclists - but they have better manners and self control obviously. :D

And no - haven't been in a newagents lately - let me guess - the Holy one is on the cover (David Bowie) - or they've finally discovered those demo tapes I made in the 90s and I'm famous. :D

can I rant that as much as I will enjoy getting rather merry this evening I still wish I could have rode in and that it was possible for me to get home with bike safely without spending fuckloads of money.

Stupid country and it's religious freedoms.

First time out on a bike in a week, first time a longer than test run and coming into town I get stopped by an orange walk. End up walking the 100 yards or so up the last bit of the main road until I turn off.

And not only do I have to put up with that inconvenience. But as I'm walking by him one of the drunken idiots watching the walk has a go at me.

They may not realise it but living somewhere like China does have it's advantages

And whilst I'm here. Is it just me who is courteous enough not to answer someone's post when someone else already has and you essentially have no new information.

    I want one too!

Tonight cycling towards a roundabout in primary (doing 28 so justified) a Gold Lexux overtakes close enough that my hand (on outside of hoods) rubs alongside the car body.

I catch up with the tosser and ask why he got so close, give us some room please. He then starts ranting, "you broke my car.... pull in"

Like that was going to happen! then he proceeds to use his car to force me off the road by turning into me and into a bus stop. I say, "I'm calling the polic" he says "go on then" and still continues using his car to force me off the road.

Up onto the cyclepath and away I go, once I'm far enough ahead then back onto the road keeping a beady eye out behind me.

My route home takes me past a police station, so rather than extending the ride as planned I report the incident and go home. Not sure what will come off it, if anything but there are certainly nutters out there; now to finish the bottle of wine before I head North in the morning.

I don't usually bother. But this morning, in the rain a taxi overtook me just short of traffic lights that were at red, then pulled right in front of me, completely filling up the ASL. He was indicating left and cup me up instead of waiting behind me - typical "must take the cyclist" type action. I pulled along side him, between hin and car on outside lane and told him that he was completly covering the ASL, and had in fact committed a road traffic offence as he had technically broke a red light. He then slipped car in reverse and pulled back 2 feet, almost knocking down the girl that was cycling behind me, while shouting at me "That better ya efffing D1ck!". Unfortunately the lights changed at that point, as I afterwards thought that I should be nice and advise him my fellow colleagues at Maryhill Police Station would be taking an interest in him.... not that I am an officer, but would have been good to see his reaction.

What's happened to drivers lately? Has everyone lost the ability to accelerate smoothly & quickly up to a safe speed? Everywhere I go in the car these days traffic is doing well below the NSL, on perfectly good straight roads with no obstructions etc, and without fail there's some duffer at the front of the queue doing 35 in a 60, who over the next mile or so builds up to about 45 then slows down again for the most innocuous bend in the road (bend? vague curve more like...) and then we're back down the to mid 30s again, with the same painful drag back up to some other piddling speed that bears absolutely no relation to the posted max.

I'm not arguing for everyone to drop the clutch at 6000 rpm and blast off in a cloud of smoke & wheelspin up to 68 (10% + 2mph see??) but come on - plodding along with the world up your boot lid is just not good enough. What's happened? Did everyone assume that the last [failed] govt's kite-flying exercise about reducing limits to 50 was actually implemented? Get a farking move on. Or pull over and have a flask of tea whilst the rest of get on with going somewhere else at a reasonable pace.

It's nothing new. My wife's commute is filled with people who can only drive at 45mph, regardless of whether they are in a 60 or a 30 limit.

    Yeah know that rant.

What annoys me just as much as the slow driving itself is the people who justify it by saying you can drive as slow as you want. Not any more you can't, not unless you want to fail your test.

Almost got knocked off by an idiot the other day.. I was on a main road travelling at about 20, indicating to turn right off it and positioned in the center. The car behind me decides to hit the gas and overtake me as I start to pull across into the opposite lane. Scared the crap out of me!
