Utterly selfish tossers that live next door. It's bad enough that we have to put up with them screaming at their kids from 6am every morning. Just found out they want to do a loft conversion. Not that they had the decency to knock on the door and talk to us about it though. Just had a letter from a surveyor they have appointed offering to act on our behalf for the party wall. The only good thing as our daughter pointed out, if they have to move out whilst the work is done at least we won't get woken up as early every morning.

    Have they served Notice?
I'd be tempted to appoint your own rather than an agreed one - that way they pay more and it'll teach them not to come and talk it through with you.
See this Grauniad article for some useful details.

    Thanks, good article.
They haven't served notice yet. Having read the letter myself rather than read between the lines from what my wife told me it's another surveyor touting for business having seen the planning application on the council website. We would appoint our own surveyor anyway, we went through it when a developer did the place up a year ago. He actually lost a sale because he hadn't rectified something to the satisfaction of our surveyor and dragged his feet. Eventually he agreed to pay my roofer to put it right as i had asked in the first place. Now we have to go through it all again.
Considering the application went in three weeks ago you think they would have said something by now.

Two spokes in a row went ping in my back wheel yesterday evening on the Carlton. Spoke break count in the wheel now up to 4 (the other two were replaced at the time). The front wheel from the wheelset is the one that was destroyed by a badger. It's a good job I'm off to the Ripley Cycle Jumble on Saturday morning - should be able to pick up a decent replacement retro fixed gear wheelset there.

Did a rush job to replace the two spokes late yesterday evening, which resulted in failure. S*d of a job trying to get the rear cog off. All looked like it was going according to plan, until it came to pumping up the back tyre again. A hissing sound indicated that I've probably used spokes that are too long which have gone through the inner tube. Mission aborted. Back onto 'old faithful' Dawes this morning. Back wheel -> bin.

Well you didn't tick the box to say it was dangerous that's because i followed the instructions on your website and rang it in as it was dangerous. useless muppets.

I've reported a pothole 5 times over the last 6 months as it's grown - they fix the ones around it, but not it.
Of course, that's the one I hit on Friday that broke the spoke while being close passed so couldn't avoid it.

Been put forward for a fix in 24 hours so ill give them credit for the follow up just have to wait and see if it happens.

True to their word a patch has been put in place how long it lasts is another matter

Yeah, but wait until they start work - 8am every morning including Saturdays - soon becomes a ball-ache.

We had that for about 8 months that finished a year ago when a developer was doing it up. We fell out with him as he was having work done all day Saturday and Sunday. The place has just been done up and they've only been there a year. Pointed out there should only be contractors making noise until lunchtime on a Saturday and not at all on a Sunday and he started behaving. Having put up with the noise of building work and decided it's preferable to the people living there gives an indication of how bad they are.

If they've appointed a party wall surveyor, you are quite within your rights to appoint your own at your neighbour's expense.

Mind you, the fact that they have appointed a Party Wall Surveyor, that's quite a good sign.

    Eurosport.

We don't have a TV so I shelled out for Eurosport Player. Wish I hadn't bothered. The catch up service is woeful - most of what's broadcast doesn't seem to end up on there, what does takes a long time to be added and doesn't stay on for long.

I tried to watch the Tour de Yorkshire live yesterday. No commentary (although given the standard of commentary on the Tour of Romandy perhaps this is a blessing). After a load of glitches and buffering it cr@pped out in the last 10k so I missed the finish.

This morning it still isn't on catch up so I gave up and watched the highlights on ITV player instead.

What a load of old sh|te...

for me its the annoyance that they devote so much time in their schedules to the snooker whilst the Beeb are showing the exact same thing and they are infact just taking the Beebs production, its like the FA cup finals from the 80s, as you surely dont tune into Eurosport for the expert analysis from Colin Murray  , and yet its the cycling that you see people complaining about having too much coverage !!!

    Do'h.

I hate having all these saddle bags, tool bottles etc and a pannier - when leaving anywhere other than work or home, takes me almost longer to remove all the lights & bags than it took for the ride there!

I leave stuff in my panniers which I leave on the bike, they are reasonably posh I guess though mostly only have the odd inner tube left in them. I also leave the blinkies in place, though I take the garmin and posh lights off the bike.

The bike is a grubby old MTB and such, though I rarely go into the centre of town mostly in the outer subs.

My neighbour, again, whose manky and clearly not roadworthy vehicles (which he still drives) leaving larger and larger oil puddles on the shared driveway.

Plus he seems to climb his stairs with lead boots on.

You're doing better than mine, only got served the party wall notices after they started digging the foundations against my wall and that's for a daft size which it seems the planners have cocked up over but no way back...
