To the loathsome prick on the cheap looking vespa about 30 mins ago on St John's St.

    A) you weren't indicating
    B) even if you were (which you weren't) it still doesn't mean you can cut me up.
    C) you are obviously a man with a tiny willy, a beard and a complex.

Chased me down the street and forced me to stop grabbing my arm shouting spitting and swearing that he was indicating (which he wasn't), verbally inviting a fight.

I'm glad i didn't hit him, despite his appalingly violent and confrontational actions. i'm better than that. But it was a close one.

Time for one of those helmet cam's so i can more easily report this sort of thing to the police, i think.
  • I have to say this week has been a little unusual : but 20 minutes ago I'd just got into Bath and had stopped at the traffic lights waiting to cross the road to our offices when the following happened.

Watch the woman (as it turned out to be) in the greyish BMW pull alongside the cyclist she must have seen in the cycle lane on the inside and then blatantly left hook him as she hangs a left into the Morrisons car park. The fact she WAS indicating is of little or no consequence.

How the guy stayed upright is testament to his cycling skills, and how he kept his temper is equally impressive. I think I can confidently say I would have hit her ... repeatedly ....

Wow, well done to the guy, good skills and a very cool head! Possibly a few seconds of "Wha....how did I do that...." to take the edge off any anger!

Bl00dy weddings - why put them on a day when the London Prepares London-Surrey Cycle Classic is on.

Suppose I wouldn't have a got a wristband for Box Hill in any event and have to go for Dressage or something equally as rubbish.

Got back home from a ride at the end of June and plugged the 705 in to upload the data and charge it up. Data was uploaded fine but when I came to use it the following day the battery was flatter than a flat thing so called Garmin and got told that if the data is uploading then the item is charging to which I replied that I've tried different USB cables with the PC and also used the mains. Got the item collected by UPS and advised Garmin to send out till last monday as I was away for the weekend and sods law being what it is, it would arrive when I was away. Despite a couple of phone calls chasing up the matter I'm still without my 705 today :(

The rest of the tale can be found here.

If you watch the vid she is ahead of the cyclist near the start (just after the other cyclist goes past) but then he appears to try and undertake her as she turns. Yes, she should check that nothing is undertaking her when she turns.. but equally so he shouldn't be trying that move!!

    Madness!

  • I agree : it is in retrospect a difficult call not made any easier by the bike lane on the driver's left. It's possible he was in her blind spot but unfortunately she didn't look and arguably seeing the bike lanes on the road she should have.

Equally I have to say when I come down London Road on the bike I'm very aware of the possibility of precisely that happening to me. There are about 5 or 6 potential turns on the drag where traffic can either pull across you from the oncoming lane or left hook you from the progressing traffic so the rider should have been watching for anyone indicating ....... and she was.

On the other hand I guess if you're driving 2 ton of metal the obligation is on you the driver to be uber careful.

to the chubby guy on the dirty yellow and blue condor fixie:

slowly and pathetically RLJing through throngs of pedestrains at Blackfriars bridge only to stop the other side of the pedestrian crossing to wait for the car traffic to pass made you look like a right tit.

Well done to the Cop Car last night. It overtook me slowly whilst approaching some traffic lights, right behind a Mini who blatantly jumped the lights (very slowly moving so had plenty of tmie to stop but just carried on).... why just flash your blues for a second as if you were going to pull them over (which I would have applauded) only to then just switch them off and carry on rolling into the ASL? Muppet.

To top it off he then turned the corner just after me and sped past me through the 20mph area (I was doing just shy of 20mph at the time) at about 30mph to the next queue of traffic.

Really. You're supposed to be setting an example, aren't you?

Was 1 storey up, inside, across the steet. Daydreaming out the window when I saw someone approach the bikestand, thought he was going for the bike next to mine and poof. Lock unlocked/snipped/cable snipped. He hopped on and was away. I ran straight downstairs, but its a pretty busy 6 way junction, so that long out of sight meat it was a gonner.

Stupidly I am incredibly busy with exams at the moment, so didn't want the hassle of a 999 call right there and then, so waited until yesterday eve to call up - didn't think that they could have radioed any patrol officers to keep an eye out and greatly increase the chance of it being found.

I've gone to the places mentioned in the 'road stolen' thread, and will keep my fingers crossed. Its a pretty cheap bike, so no major financial loss. It had a massive sentimental value, and obviously to replace it will be quite a bit, as I need a fairly decent bike.

Des. You're a farkin ar$ewipe. I presume you're called Des as you're the sort of imbecile who has a car reg that trumpets your name along with some random numbers, so DES 123 on your old rot-box of a Merc makes you stand out. I noticed you though not because of your ridiculous number plate, or your appalling dress sense, or your decidedly ugly and belligerent wife. I noticed you because you thought that it would be a good idea to try to pass me through a pinch point whilst I'm deliberately riding primary to prevent morons like you squeezing past. You utter farkin moron. And FYI you got the double finger from me for sticking the V's up at me when I gave you the stare.

Cnut. Get out & fight next time, yer big farkin jessy.

Good ride in apart from meeting Des.

Guys, chill out in the mornings. Is it really worth jostling each other just to get 5 yards ahead only to be stopped by the lights a further 10 yards ahead?

Most of the time I smile at your antics, but I think I'll stay way at the back and leave you all to it :?

City Link. Need I say anymore? They were entrusted with my Edge800 overnight and have managed to attempt a delivery at 08:10 today along with a card being left and instructions to call my mobile. All ends well though as a call to the depot, now have the number stored in my phone and the driver has delivered the goods. Kettle on and a play with my new toy :D

    Kieran,

    Aggghhhh!!!!

I hate that so much. Have you noticed that often people are more willing to overtake ahead of a blind bend than they are AFTER a blind bend when they can see a car in the distance.
Ahead - "ignorance is bliss, it's probably clear, let's have a go"
After - "oncoming car ahead! oncoming car ahead! I've got loads of time to over take but did I mention oncoming car ahead!"

    Grrrr.....

I think most of what's on there I can do without, just a hassle.
The computer slowed right down and it was making funny noises. I shut it down and left it for a bit. When I turned it on it said "disk read error press ctrl alt del to restart" Tried a few times to no avail. No noise from drive.
Tried the system restore disc and it errored as it couldn't find the hard disc and asked me to check it was still there. It was.
I believe it was caused by a build up of dust and cat hair causing things to get hot. It's quite an old Sony Vaio desktop. I think I'll see if I can get a new disc drive fitted and salvage the thing. Can't really justify a new one at the moment for various reasons.
