Outter Chain ring...

poor student here! Got back from a ride yesterday to realise my outter chain ring has been bent and has several teeth missing.
Its an XT M760 chainset, and a new outter ring is going to cost nearly £45.
Being poor i was wondering whether a cheaper LX outter chain ring would be compatable, is there a difference in the ratio of teeth? would it actually fit the botls?

yes it will fit.
and count the number of teeth on the current and get the same.
