Cycling Demonstration Towns

Derby as a cycling demonstration town seems to have a number of failings. I do think there's been some good work done with kids, bikeability and cycle coaching, though I should declare an interest as I've done some of that with them myself. On the whole though I have to agree with the misgivings of Cycling England - I can't really see that there have been any real benefits for riders who haven't been part of those initiatives.
I haven't seen any real change in provision for cyclists and when I tried to talk to the previous councillor in charge of transport at a function to do with bikeability about it he couldn't wait to fob me off and get back to talking to the local MP and a couple of other vips.
