Garmin 305 gone nuts!!
I rode down to Brighton from London on Saturday morning, had pre-loaded the route via mapmyride the night before and it guided me there effortlessly. Then, on the return it decided to lose it's mind, started displaying speeds of about 55mph (i'd like to think i'm quick, but gees..) down Clapham High St. Anyone else encountered this kinda issue, and how did you rectify it? It's gonna look good on my training records, but does represent what's actually happening! This morning, through SW London i averaged 30mph, including about 3 longish stops for red lights so it's definitely playing up..

Mine has increasing problems with reliability and consistency with software It now takes 10 - 12 startups prior to actually picking up satellites. There are often peaks of speeds that are ridiculous, and do not match, graphs show 20 - 25, peak = 60 but does not match graphs.
The other problem is that if I load to SportTracks a run of 10 miles on Garmin shows as several hundred on SportTracks.
All GArmin suggests is a reset, but I think it is beyond that and needs a repair.<b><i>He that buys land buys many stones.

I've just taken mine back to PC World and they swapped it for a new one. It was getting tempramental and wouldn't hold charge. Mind you, I'd had it 2 weeks short of a year. Now I've got a fresh one with no scratches on the screen and 12 months warranty. Happy days indeed!0

Mine threw a wobbler this morning and refused to find any satellites over a 20 minute period. I also get this thing where it randomly decides to autopause and then resumes again even when it has a very clear view of the sky. Generally that happens at the start though. And of course how could I fail to mention my lovely under-sea residence that it is occasionally convinced of. Recent 200km sportive it decided to refuse to turn on; had to try to remember it's three finger salute and when it did come on the battery was half dead despite telling me it finished charging the night before! Ran out after 130km.
Last one developed problems with picking up any wireless stuff (HR/cadence) after 45 mins or so, the up button stopped working, eventually stopped working entirely and had to go back to Garmin for replacement.
They really are tempremental little things. But they are the only thing on the market and great when they do work!0 -
Had mine for about 18 months and has never missed a beat, fingers x! Just heading to do lejog and trying to overcome lack of memory in the unit0

I had issues with mne, spoke to Garmin at the marathon expo - they confirmed a full factory reset often helps.
You dont lose any data - you just sync it back up to your PC and it loads all your weight etc.
(You might have to set up screen prefernces).
I use mine mostly for running, and some ocassional cyclying - anyone have the cadence sensor, and is it worth the money?0 -
Yeah man, have the gsc 10 sensor too. I fixed it to the bike and fired it up and away it went, Have used it with other 305 users and worked well. Cant see past these units, but how can I convince wife that I NEED a 705?0
