After 7/8 months on my Avalanche 2.0 i fancy an upgrade to a full susser as i'm sick of following my mate on his 08 stumpy comp!!!
I rang my lbs today to see what he has in, he is selling the fuel ex 7 for £1200 knocking £200 of the original price, he also mentioned he had a demo fuel ex 8 up for £1300, i asked about a new ex8 but he said he was not ordering many more as the 2009 models are coming out early so no discounts which keeps the ex8 at £1600 new, he also said the new models are to increase in price as material prices as we all know have increased.

Anyway back to question what do you all think about the 7 and 8 and is it wise to purchase a demo bike.

Suppose another question should be what else should i be looking at, the only reason i'm not looking at the stumpy is it is a little dearer at £1500 and don't want to look like twins when out with my mate LOL!!!! for info, i'm 6ft tall and 16 stone incase this makes a difference to what i should be looking at.

A demo bike will have been well looked after by a qualified mechanic and is certainly a better option than buying from eBay. You could also possibly haggle a bit more off the demo bike. The most important question though - is the demo bike khaki (green)/white? If so then it looks absolutely amazing IMO, and I would go for the demo (although you may not be so superficial!)

  • I tried an EX8 when I was doing the rounds looking for my latest full sus, I didn't end up getting it as I found it a little over streached on the reach front. great looking bike though and the suspension system is fantastic. good spec too, for the extra £100 i'd have the demo EX8 over the new EX7 any day.

    I've got an EX8 - Great bike -

If its a little used Demo you are on a no brainer at that price.

Take it out for an extended test ride - then you will know for sure.

One downside is the OEM tyres are not to great in the wet or on slippy stuff - Ok for the summer |but I guess you could do a deal on some god mud plugging tyres at the same time.
