    Being a regular at Thetford, the bike you have seems to be perfect for the trail, or that is what people would have you think. Recent reviews of thetford say that it is ideal for hard tails and short full sus bikes.
    Problem is I think it all comes down to how you ride the bike. Until recently I have always used a hard tail at Thetford and had no problems, okay it is a bit cut up at the moment but you just have to learn to work the terrain with the bike.
    If it is uncomfortable try some riser bars and larger fast rolling tyres, your bike has some nice kit so a frame change if you really want to change it could be possible, I changed my P7 frame for a 06 enduro pro of ebay for £400.

    Us guys a TIMBER (www.timbermtb.org/) ride quite regularly either as a group or individually with other non members so maybe have a look on the forum and meet up, to see what other people are using and if they have had the same issues.

    End of the day it is your bike and your money so go with what you are happy with.
