I don't mind sharing the bike lanes around Glasgow's parks with horsey-types.

I don't mind pulling to the side and allowing the horses to pass by without the shock of a yellow-clad cyclist careering toward them (although if the two riders I waited for this afternoon are reading, some kind of acknowledgement - even just a nod - would have been polite).

One thing really does bother me though. One thing just makes me curse every time I see it. Horse sh!t. Great steaming piles of it spread across the width of the cycle lane.

What is wrong with these people? If they were out walking their dogs they'd have to bag the little poop up and put it in a bin... but because they are up on a horse it seems it's okay for them to leave a bucket-load of the stuff behind them and it magically becomes somebody else's problem.

Grrrrrr

nowt wrong with horse shit, as they only eat veg its never that bad.
besides its something to bunny hop :)
  • You should try cycling around Westminster and The Mall. Tons of it there and you would want to accost the riders and complain.

They might just shoot you. :P

...horse poo is very good on the garden.

I have no argument with horseriders around here, where there are many of them, they get as hard a time from motorists as us cyclists. Remember to always speak to the rider before you pass a horse as they can be easily "spooked" by bikes...

its only veg until it has been through the sea of e. coli and other bugs that reside in the gut.

Whilst the vast majority of the coli in the gut ate totally harmless, I for one woudn't want a spray of it up my back after running over it.

Definatly a good chance to practice bunny hopping though

Horse poo is perfectly safe (as is all poo from animals that eat vegetation only) the reason it can be left behind is because it doesn't harbour shed loads of nasty bacteria.

Granted I still wouldn't want it sprayed up my back/in my face but it's far from a risk to health.

How big would a horse pooper-scoop need to be?!?!?! You'd have to have a JCB!!!! LOL  !

It's just a hill. Get over it.

That always used to annoy me when my commute went through hyde park and kensington gardens. Horse poo everywhere, i tell you. It's all well and good and avoidable though not exactly pleasant until it starts to rain. then you have wet poo all over the road in a deeply unpleasant quagmire.

I mean, really, is it so hard to send out one of the cavalry (because it's their horses) to clean it up?

Also, horses riding very slowly 2 abreast in the cycle lanes... get out of the way!

Not when it's a frosty morning, you are doing 20+ mph downhill, the poo is frozen rock solid to the path and camouflaged by leaves. Nearly added to the pile!
