I'm currently running Kenda Karmas on my hardtail and want a little more grip, particularly on off-camber loose stuff. I'd like to keep some ability for fast rolling as I'm more of a fan of fast singletrack than technical stuff so nothing too chunky I guess.

Suggestions?

Kenda Nevegal DTC, Maxxis ADvantage, Maxxis High Roller XC, Specialized Sauserwind, Panaracer Rampage... WMB has an 18 tyre supertest this moneth - go out and have a read. (Free Trek socks too!)

I highly recommend Continental Verticals for any condition apart from claggy, sticky mud.

    Cinders would cope suprisingly well

Not very fast rolling compared to similar tyres though according to WMB

I've been seriously seriously impressed with my Conti MK Protection tyres that I've been running for the last 6 months. Really fast rolling, light, really grippy, plenty of cushioning and so far very hard wearing. In comparison they have certainly been out performing Nevegals that my mates bike has.

I could also recommend my previous tyres the Maxxis ADvantage 2.1 (quite large for 2.1s) that I ran with for 6 months. Agressive tread and grippy but they wore quite quickly and I personally found them quite hard and unforgiving.

Panaracer Fire XC Pro are not a bad tyre but not that fast rolling. If I'm honest I could never really complain about the Spesh own brand tyres I had on a Stumpy a couple of years back. 2.1 Resolutions I think??
