Ultegra chainset slightly dammaged during delivery

I've taken delivery of some new components this weekend, however on receiving the package I noticed that several teeth of the Ultegra chainset were pretruding from the packaging.
Opening the package I’ve noticed that the only protection was a thin layer of bubble wrap; no carboard as would be expected.
On inspection I've noticed that several of the teeth are slightly burred.

Is this something that will effect shifting and I should return the part?
Thanks

Its probably best to send it back, cos otherwise you'll always be thinking about it once its on your bike, or at least talk to whereever you got it from about it.

I've now corrected the image size as I had uploaded the thumbnails by mistake.

Send it back. You paid for a decent piece of kit, and you shouldn't put up with anything less than that.

The teeth arnt meant to be uniform, once youve got it on and done a few miles wont make the slightest difference. Send it back if you want, you are entitled to...but I wouldnt bother.

I disagree with that - you wouldn't ever get that sort of damage/wear through use, and what's more it could cause problems with shifting and chain suck. The answer is easy - you've bought something which was supposed to be brand new and it's not - get a refund or replacement.

The teeth aren't meant to be uniform? Really?

    I'm sending it back.
I've ordered and paid for the same part, which will be sent out today. A refund will go through when the damaged part is received. The waiting would be unbearable otherwise.

    Thanks for the advice.

Well done for sending it back. Out of interest, where did you buy it from?

No, some of the teeth are shorter, to assist shifting apparently, this picture shows it quite well

  • and some teeth are ramped as well to help with shifting. HOWEVER they shouldn't look like they have been hit on the tops with a hammer. Send it back.

I agree, that damage is not the same as the intentional "irregularities" - send it back (who sold it?? Someone called Dave?).
