Security for bike racks

Dear All
I am looking at buying a bike rack (prob. the Sarin Bones 3-bike) so the family can all go out together on bike trips. However, it looks like bikes are just strapped onto the rack and not locked in place.
Is there a good way to secure the bikes from theft? For example, what kinds of bike lock work best with strap-mounted bike racks?
All comments appreciated.
Best wishes
Ivan

I'd go for a huge chain and then run it through the tow rope eye on the back of the car. Big motorbike locks are handy for this."It must be true, I saw it on the Internet!"0

Thanks for your advice. We'll do something like this I think.
