I want to cut my rear brake hose a bit shorter, and i was just wondering if it is esential to fit a new barbed thingy and compression ring every time the hose is cut, as reccomended by Park Tools? Is it possible to pull the old one out and reuse it?

Cheers,

Andy.

Depends on what brakes you have? i trimmed my '07 mono mini's without needing to replace or change any parts.
  • I would always use a new olive and barb myself, brakes are not an area to cut corners over a potentially £1-£2 part. buy a new one and you can't go wrong.

Not to worry guy's, i was looking through the boxes the brakes came in (they are Juicy 5's by the way, forgot to mention that) looking for spare bolts from my old brakes and i found out they both came with 2 sets :D Now i just have to scrounge a bleeding kit from someone :)

    Cheers,

and the reason they come with spares is that you will need to use them.

as mentioned Hope use a reusable olive.
