Coffee while commuting

Can anyone recommend an insulated travel mug that fits into a standard bottle cage please?
I've seen them mentioned on some American sites but I can't find anything that would definitely fit available on the the UK market.

Sometimes my commute starts at about 5am and I don't always have time to make and savour a posh coffee before I leave the house.

If any of you manufacturing students read this thread, sort it please. :)

 I can't imagine trying to drink and savour hot coffee while putting in a respectable performance on my commute

  • The Network Rail van driver that nearly took me out was drinking coffee (or tea). Perhaps that's why his streering was erratic and he couldn't indicate.

    Richardast,

I can't stomach nice coffee in a mug before my commute, but I need a jolt to get me going.
I have two espressos before I leave and they do the trick.

Time to buy an espresso machine?? :D

I already have a machine. Just need an appropriate vessel to keep the coffee hot.

Perhaps I should have explained - I don't necessarily intend to drink the hot coffee while cycling at full tilt for 10 - 20 miles. When I have a very early shift I tend to just cycle the 2 miles to my local railway station then the 2 miles from Liverpool St Station to my place of work.
The coffee is for me to savour while sitting on the train.

If you make it strong enough you could always compress it into a tablet and insert for a full on coffee enema.

Hmm, I occasionally hve to use train in the middle bit of my commute - I just use a normal wee thermos in my rucksack..

I do have one of these

Beware! If I had a good coffee after a 5am bike ride I'd most likely soil myself... coffee in the morning seems to be the liquid equivalent of hitting the 'eject' button

probably not gonna help, but Trek gave me a freebie insulated mug at the great outdoor show earlier this year..,. sounds like it'd be ideal for you.

Indeed - I use "turbolax" coffee (i.e. very strong cafetiere brew) if things haven't "moved" for a while. Never fails.

Thermos used to make a drinks bottle that fitter a bottle cage - but it was marked COLD drinks only. I used it for espresso rocket fuel for years without any problem.

If you're prepared to forgo a cage on the bike or can fit an open cage why not try one of these
