Specialized Globe Replacement Tyres

Hi there,
I have a Specialized Globe hybrid bike, using for nearly 1 year commuting to work. The tyres look like they are in need of replacement but I'm not sure what size to get.
The ones that came with the bike say 700x42 (44-622) which seem less common than 700x28. Seeing as my commute is pretty much all on road, perhaps I may benefit from narrower tyre (I assume that is what the 28 bit means).
But my big question is will a 700x28 tire fit on my bike?
Thanks,
Graham.

Forgot to add, will I need different inner tubes if I get different size tyres?

Should I be posting this in the commuting section?

    If x 42s fit, so will x 28s - frame and rims. x 32 might be a good compromise?

Coming down from 42 to 28 then yes smaller tubes at least a good idea even if not essential (can probably stuff big ones in with a bit of effort!).

Cool. Thanks, think i will go with 32s to be on the safe side then I can save a few quid on the tubes.

There SHOULD be a tyre size range given on tubes currently fitted - to be on safe side have a check!
