Hey,
I've broken my break lever for my mechanical disc brakes. The lever has basically snapped and it was some cheapo tektro one which i couldn't find spare parts for so i brought some new shimano Deore v-brake levers (which are compatible for mechanical disc brakes).
One problem. How do i get the old brake lever out and replace it with this new one? I've loosed the allen key but cant get the brake out, would i have to take out the rubber grips and grip gears to the left of the brake levers in order to get it out? Surely there must be an easier way, my grips wont budge a bit and seem impossible to take out...
P.S. Im talking abotu the whole lever mechanism, i know how to take the wire out and replace it, its just taking the whole brake lever mechanism off the handlebar and replacing it which is the problem.
Thanks!

You need to take grips off unfortunately mate. the old levers only slide off the end of the bar.
You bend it, you mend it.0

any tips for removing grips that are pretty hard to budge?0
-
lift up the inside edge and wet the space between the grip and the bar. try twisting it some, add more water, twist more and try to work water up the space between the grip and the bar.
You bend it, you mend it.0

Feed the straw which comes with WD40, GT85 etc under the grip and spray.
Rotate the grip until it just slides off.
Wipe the handlebar and interior of the grip with cloth until dry.
Remove/ replace brake lever.
Spray inside of grip with hairspray or spray mount and slide on.
Leave grip until hairspray etc dries out.
Grip will stay in place until next time.
Sorted.
Hope this helps.
