:( - "not a happy teddy". A mate has just recently bought a Focus bike from Wiggle which arrived with a few faults - lots of movement on fork when locked out, poor rear brake perofrmance, sheared bolt in same brake lever and poor gear changes!!!

Wiggle seem to be rather hard to agree to a new bike replacement!!

Anyone with some advice or experienced the same?

has the fork got a blowout valve to allow movement when locked when hitting bumps?

Also re gear changing: most new bikes need tweaking, it's not a diffilicult task to get them to change nicely.

I hate wiggle and will never order from them

It took 3 months for them to get me a Focus super bud.

They kept me hanging on with the next week no next week no next week job.

And after I got it, No comp, not even a 5 pound voucher, and they even said they should have just told me they didnt know when it was coming in.

    I HATE WIGGLE

The guy's spoken to pedalon who say their should be about 2-4mm movement but this fork has quite a bit more.

I agree he could adjust the gears; in principle me thinks he wants the whole thing sorted!

well I don't blame him. If part of the brake lever is broken that will need sorting somehow.

has your mate ridden the bike so they wont accept a return?

    :( Hi
I'm the unlucky one with the Focus bike with all the problems. Talk about trying to Wiggle out of a problem!! I have only just got into the bike scene and know very little about them. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does anyone have a telephone number for Wiggle that I can use and talk to someone instead of having to put up with them on replying to me once a day via e-mail?

I know this is not ideal, and indeed might not even work but can you get the bike to a reliable LBS and get an estimate on replacement parts/ repairs and email a copy off to Wiggle? The Sale of Goods Act is your friend here and even the mention of it could get things moving for you. Did you pay by Credit card? Your provider may be wiling to chase Wiggle up too. Just a thought.

:( No I had to get hp on the bike. The last e-mail they sent was on Thursday morning asking if I still had that packageing and when they colud collect. I dont have the box but told them they can collect at anytime but I either need my bike back in a weeks time or a replacement because of the London to Brighton. I dont want to let my friends down or the BHF

Which focus bike is it? The sheared bolt is not good, but brakes do have to bed in, and gears need resetting very quickly as the cables 'stretch'.

Some forks are designed to move 30mm or so when locked.

Its the Focus Northern Lite. Great bike for the first couple of outings.

The thing is, it's notjust the gears and the broken grub screw in the brake lever. Ilts the 10mm of travel when the forks are in Lock-out.

The one with a Rockshox Tora 302? It is designed to move upto 30mm, not just 2-4mm!!! Pedalon are totally wrong. RockShox designed the fork this way so the fork tracks better when in lockout.

Lol, doesnt sound like you have been given very good service or advice, which can't be helping matters. They should be going through all the things you can expect with a bike - such as adjustments that will need to be done, maintenance, cleaning, etc. Most shops offer a free service to adjust the parts as they bed in. Buying online forgoes this unfortunately.

It maybe that all the gears need are a quick tweak of the barrel adjuster on the rear derailer, or shifter. Try a quarter of a turn anti clockwise at a time, until they feel better. Same with the rear brake, they should have gone through the bedding in process. The screw definitely neeeds sorting.

When everyting is sorted, I'd recommend getting a good book, such as the following:

    http://www.evanscycles.com/product.jsp? ... gn=froogle

Add to this a few basic tools, oils and cleaners and you'll be in a great position to get the most out of your machine.

Thanks for help man. They have sent me a new grub screw and a rear cable as the one on the bike is frayed. The reason the gears dont work is because they didn't clip the cable in properly and therefore its slipped. It was only being held in by two strands. These bikes are advertised as "Ready to Ride". For how long, an hour?? LoL.
Because of them being so unhelpful I would never buy from them again and I'd tell as many people as possible about their crap service. Wiggle, nore like Wiggle out of any problems.

Ah, if the bike came like that, yes, I understand your woes! That is NOT good!

Don't let them put you off though - and find a good shop ;-)

fire of a strong worded email saying how disgusted you are with them, and their inability to sort out your problems and that if you dont have a satisfactory outcome soon then you will have no other option then to take it further, i bet they will sort you out some vouchers pretty quickly
i ordered a focus from wiggle and they screwed up the delivery, i ended up picking it up from the couriers depot and sent some very strong emails to them, within a week they gave me a £50 voucher
i must say though that my bike was set up pretty well when i eventually got it, i just think you have been unlucky so i wouldnt let this experience put you off them, they have some good deals
i really hope you get a result from them soon mate, and enjoy your bike
